The Basics
The Basics of Formula 1

The sport consists of 10 teams with 20 drivers who are all competing to score points every race weekend. As of 2024, there are 24 races on the calendar with 6 of those weekends having an additional sprint race.
Teams are competing in a Constructors Championship. Individual points scored by each driver are added together into a cumulative points total for their team. The team with the most points by the end of the year, or until the team in second can't pass them in the total weekends left in the season, wins the Constructors title. The team in first is awarded the most money but they get the least about of wind tunnel time.
Drivers are competing in a Drivers Championship. Each week the top 10 drivers score points. The driver with the most points by the end of the year, or until the person in second cannot pass them in the total weekends left, is crowned the champion for the season. They are awarded with a replica trophy with their name engraved on it as well as their name being engraved on the actual trophy as well.
