The Points System

There are two different points system within Formula 1. There is the standard race points system and the sprint points system.

STANDARD RACE
In a standard race, the top 10 drivers score points. The driver who finishes first is awarded 25 points. Anyone out of the top 10 do not score points. See below for all placement points.

1 - 25 6 - 8
2 - 18 7 - 6
3 - 15 8 - 4
4 - 12 9 - 3
5 - 10 10 - 2

SPRINT RACE
The sprint race is similar to the standard race but only the top 8 drivers score points as well as there only being 8 points scored for placing 1st.

1 - 8 5 - 4
2 - 7 6 - 3
3 - 6 7 - 2
4 - 5 8 - 1

In a standard race format, an additional point is awarded to the driver who sets the fastest lap, but only if they are in the top 10. Therefore if a driver below the top 10 sets the fastest lap, they will not receive the additional point.
