The Hypocrisy Around Charles Leclerc

Every driver pushes their car to the limit to extract the most potential for the best result from it. However, this allows for more errors to occur, especially when the car they're driving is not as competitive it's suspected to be. In turn, more mistakes are made.

Charles has always been a driver who has never settled for anything less than the best. He is never satisfied unless he is P1. His history with his team has been riddled with poor performing cars that he has to drag to good results. He is always pushing on the limit to out-perform the car that is under him.

This driving behavior has led to many people claiming he is error-prone and believing that he has become a poor driver. This is not the case. In actuality he doesn't make that many mistakes, nor has he made that many this year. He has only made a single mistake in a representative session this season and anything else has happened within a practice session.

When any other driver makes a mistake or has a crash, everyone says they were simply pushing hard or driving on the limit. This sentiment is never given to Charles though.

You will never learn anything or understand the car if you stay in a comfortable box the entire time. You have to push past the limit to find where the line is and to be able to get the best result out of the car. This is exactly what Charles, as well as many other drivers, do and yet only Charles is deemed to be "washed" and "error-prone" because of this mentality. The hypocrisy is very prevalent.
